New Thing #51: I'm hosting a poll on my blog

So, in a previous comment thread, El Anor from Flagstaff, Arizona, suggested that I host a poll on my blog, since hosting a poll on my blog is something I've never done before. I think that the phrase "hosting a poll" is funny and I can't stop thinking dirty things, but El Anor is right, I never have hosted a poll on my blog, and then Joe Chandler (who's back, people!) suggested in the comment thread that my poll ask people whether or not I truly understand the genius that is Gene Wilder, since, in my previous post, I happened to diss the man by mentioning that I would never put him on my list of Top 100 Greatest Performances of All Time.

Am I wrong? How wrong am I? It's up to you, the people, to decide.

(I'm new at hosting polls on my blog, so hopefully this will work.)
Does Erik not understand Gene Wilder's true genius?
Erik is a fool. Gene Wilder should officially change his name to GENIUS WILDER
Dude, Erik's right, Gene is okay and all, but like, whatever
Who's Gene Wilder?
Who's Erik?
I have to poop so badly I can't concentrate on this poll.

I read your comment about me as "he's black, people" instead of the correct "he's back, people." And I thought that was some sort of expression I'd never heard. I think your poll is going to let me vote as many times as I want.

Where's the "Gene Wilder scared me so badly as a child when he played Willie Wonka that I've never been able to watch another one of his movies because he skeeves me out" option?

Yeah - that's probably just me. But hey - childhood movie traumas run deep...

Wait, you're not black, Joe?

Erik said...

Rebecca, the movie that traumatized me as a child was called Whispers in the Dark.

Watching Alan Alda have sex...that was something that I wish I had never seen. I was, like, 12. I am still disturbed.

You just made me laugh so hard I spit brownie on my monitor!!!!

Erik said...

I urge you NEVER to rent the movie, and if you stumble across it on your cable, TURN THE CHANNEL AS QUICK AS YOU CAN.

Seriously.

I think you made that point just by typing the words watching Alan Alda have sex **shudder**

How about I make the picture even more disturbing...

Watching Alan Alda have aggressive sex in closets and then kill people...that was something I wish I had never seen.

Okay now I think I'm afraid of Alan Alda!! Seriously -- aggressive sex in closets?? I sooo could've done without knowing that!!!

I'm so sorry, Rebecca.

Yeah sure - I'll bet you're sitting there laughing maniacally at my expense!!

Or at least, I would be.

I am SO laughing at your expense right now.

the shorter story... said...

this is awesome...and he SO scared me as a kid, too! gene wilder, not alan alda...i wasn't allowed to see "Whispers in the Dark" til i was 13. my babysitter showed me the movie "Dolls" though when i was 9. she told me it was rate PG. ha! it was so R. and i will never look at a doll the same. i remember this one image in particular of the doll (alive, ala chucky) dragging the bloody, dying sister down the stairs. needless to say, i made my parents remove all of the dolls from my room.

p.s. thank you so much for your message last night! sorry i missed you...i was at a dinner thing. and YOU are AWE-SOME ;)

AQR, i've never seen Dolls, but it doesn't sound as scary as watching Alan Alda have aggressive sex in closets and then kill people.

Erik said...

History of Violence was SO BAD.

I'm scared of dolls, still. And it may or may not be from a movie.
Lindsay

Erik said...

Lindsay, was it Chucky who started your fear of dolls?

It was definietly earlier, like age 3 or 4. I remember wandering into the room while my parents were watching a scary movie and my dad did a crappy job of covering my eyes during the scary scenes - I could see right between his fingers! I don't know what the movie was, but a scary mannequin/doll thingy pooped out of nowhere. I always like stuffed animals better and had to make sure my Barbies were put away in the closet with the door shut before I went to sleep. (Still do.)

While I am at it, clowns and dummies can go f*** off as well.

Did you ever see the 'Dust in the Wind' video? I couldn't even listen to the song for a while. And I still haven't seen Team America, even though I am sure I would like it.

Erik said...

Oh, Lindsay, you MUST see Team America! It's not scary at all. I promise.

Erik said...

I tried to vote twice, but the poll wouldn't let me.

While we're sharing doll moments...my babysitter let me watch this horror film humbly titled "The Dolls." There was a hotel, a bunch of lost people (reminds me of the song Hotel California) and the owner had all these creepy dolls. They killed the people!! They took this chick and rammed her head against a wall like 100 times. It was awful and I made my mom turn all my porcelain dolls around at night so they weren't watching me. We never hired that babysitter again.

Erik said...

Soleclaw, the only thing scarier than a whole bunch of killer dolls is...

...a whole bunch of killer dolls who look like Alan Alda.

Joe, are you mad that my poop is beating Gene Wilder in the pool?

(Okay, out of context, that might be the funniest sentence EVER.)
